Flashback

The introduction of buses as a mode of transportation in Greece began in 1896. For the first 25 years, bus service was minimal, with primitive and improvised vehicles. Over time, the need for improvement led to legal regulations, and various forms of bus services emerged until 1952, when the Provincial KTEL (Public Bus Companies) were established by Legislative Decree 2119/52. In 1973, the KTEL system was restructured to its current form.
Responding to modern demands, KTEL Heraklion - Lassithi S.A. continually updates its bus fleet, develops modern facilities, organizes services, and invests in staff training, making our organization one of the most advanced in Greece.
Today, KTEL operates a fleet of 200 modern buses of various sizes, equipped with air conditioning, and staffed by 500 experienced employees dedicated to providing safe, comfortable, fast, and affordable transportation to passengers.
Our goal is to encourage passengers to use KTEL, not only because we offer reduced fares for students, large families, and others, but also because we fulfill a social role. We provide comfort, economy, and reliability.
KTEL Heraklion - Lassithi S.A. serves all of Crete and connects the island to Mainland Greece, running routes to Lamia, Larisa, Katerini, Thessaloniki, Corinth, Patras, Arta, Mesolongi, and Ioannina.
We also operate two (2) General Tourism Offices in Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos and own a fleet of tourist buses for all kinds of excursions.
